Flashes of Hope!

Keith Cooley, my old roommate and good friend from college, is involved with a really neat non-profit organization called Flashes of Hope.

Flashes of Hope’s is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating uplifting portraits of children fighting cancer and other life threatening illnesses. The portraits, taken by award-winning photographers, help children feel better about their changing appearance by celebrating it. For families of terminally ill children, it’s especially important to have a portrait that preserves forever the beauty, grace and dignity of their child.

Keith was featured on two local TV stations in  Indianapolis this week.  Here are the current links (no promises on how long they will work, so watch them now! ha!)

33 Miles

33 Miles, a Christian trio with Jason Barton (a Tech Alumni) has a new project that will be released this summer.  They will be in Shreveport, LA on July 17 at Summer Grove Baptist Church (complete tour schedule).

There currently is a free downloadable track (from their first project) available at www.freeccm.com (site registration is required to access the free download).

I knew Jason in college and he was unbelievable talented then and has only gotten better.  He also roomed with one of my good friends Jay Simmons. Jason and his wife, Jennifer (what a great name for a wife!) were featured in the June issue of Redbook which made its way to the front page of MSN.com

Their Freshman release, 33 Miles, can be purchased at Amazon for about $13 or through their web site.

If you haven’t heard 33 Miles, they are worth a listen to.  You can listen on-line at their web site at: www.33milesonline.com

Caden learns to Square Dance

JibJab.com says they are the funniest place on the web and while I don’t know if they are really the funniest, their is a lot of fun to be had on their web site. Jibjab became famous by producing some of the funniest “internet” videos in the early days of on-line videos. The originals are still on their web site:

You’ll find your favorite hilarious flash animations like ‘This Land’, ‘Big Box Mart’, ‘2-0-5’, ‘Good to Be in D.C.’ and more – we’ve got more over-sized pumpkin heads and dancing politicos than you can shake a stick at!

If you haven’t seen any or all of them, I recommend wasting a morning or an evening and viewing them.

Recently JibJab started a new service that lets visitors design their own JibJab videos and even include their own “heads” into the videos. I’ve had entirely too much fun with this new service, usually at the expense of others!

In the latest, Caden has learn to square dance with no other than Laura Bush! The other two characters are my sister and brother who have given up disco for square dancing!

Enjoy!

Lightning Strikes!

We had an interesting Friday night… mom was in town for the weekend, so after we ate, came back to the house and were sitting around in the kitchen at the Bar talking and watching and listening to the thunderstorm.

BAM! Ok, so that isn’t the picture above, but it looked like that, ok, maybe not, but we did see the bolt come down this pine tree in the front yard and hit the ground and bust into a ball of flames!

Shortly after it happen, I went to the sink to wash something and we had NO water pressure… then I remembered, “the main (neighborhood’s) water line runs right by that tree.

When it stopped raining and storming enough that Jennifer would let me out of the house, I drover HER truck to the end of the driveway and with HER flashlight (what is it with her having a cooler vehicle and better tools than me? Guess it should be that way, huh), anyway, what I saw was a bubbling up from the ground, like you see at the start of the Beverly Hillbillies — except it was water, not oil.
